Summary:
A validated ERP system in the private cloud – that was the Sanity Group’s goal. With Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Yaveon’s industry ERP solution, the company achieved automated processes, greater day-to-day transparency, and certified security thanks to computer system validation. A modern system that combines regulatory compliance with efficiency – and an inspiring example of innovation and foresight!
Introducing enterprise resource planning in the public cloud was long considered unthinkable in regulated industries – and even today, doubts remain. Is it possible at all? Is it secure? What about updates? Legitimate questions – but ones with clear answers.
The ERP project with Berlin-based cannabis company Sanity Group demonstrates that a validated SaaS project is not only feasible but can be implemented with confidence and success.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Berlin, the Sanity Group is dedicated to helping people with medical cannabis. Its more than 120 employees are committed to enabling healthier, more balanced lives by harnessing the positive effects of cannabis. Through research, education, and its own brands, the company brings cannabis products to market responsibly and thoughtfully.
When spreadsheets became too complex and time-consuming, Sanity began searching for a suitable ERP solution.
An ERP selection consultant first brought Sanity Group and Yaveon together. After several meetings that highlighted both the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Yaveon’s industry solution for the pharmaceutical sector, the project was ready to launch.
The goal: implementation in the public cloud.
As the project unfolded, the appeal of the public cloud quickly became clear. However, as a pharmaceutical company, Vayamed GmbH (a Sanity Group subsidiary) is subject to strict regulations and therefore obliged to validate its processes and computerized systems. Were there doubts about whether a validated SaaS implementation of BC Online was possible? Of course. Together with Yaveon’s validation team, open questions and challenges were addressed step by step. Ultimately, the advantages of SaaS won over the Sanity team – and soon the message was clear: Full speed ahead into the public cloud!
To validate in the public cloud, certain conditions must be met. Yaveon provides validation templates that fully prepare the process and supports companies in implementing comprehensive update management.
Why is this so important? Because Microsoft solutions such as BC Online are updated regularly – twice a year with major releases and monthly with minor updates. For validated software, companies must ensure these updates are executed in a structured and documented way.
Think of it like updates on a smartphone: normally they run smoothly, and the app works just as before. But in validated environments, documentation and traceability are mandatory.
To ensure this, all product-related changes are fully tested within Yaveon’s product development. Update lists help identify affected functions, enabling customers to assess the impact on their system and take necessary action before updates are applied.
With Yaveon, Sanity Group benefits from an ERP industry solution that extends standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central into a sector-specific system.
The Sanity Group uses the following modules:
Since implementing the solution, Sanity Group has transformed its processes. Automated workflows and time savings make the team’s daily work easier.
Looking back, the software implementation went according to plan. Together with Yaveon consultants, Sanity Group implemented all the necessary steps with determination – including the processes for computer system validation. With composure, confidence, and a touch of courage, the project team mastered the process smoothly.
A big compliment to the Sanity team: working with you was a real pleasure!
